All courses offered at GTI are taught in English. For this reason, good command of English is an important prerequisite to successfully complete the study programs.
At English Department, teachers are passionate about the subjects and bring that passion in full force when teaching it as well. Teacher are dedicated to help students in facilitating their learning path way. Alongside exploring effective teaching methods, teachers who have completed the training programs enthusiastically pass on the teaching strategies to the peer teachers by doing knowledge sharing activities at the department.
Aligned with systematic lesson plan, Engineering English prescribed text is rigorously designed based on what students need to learn and how it will be done effectively during the class time. In order to understand technical language concepts and to get involved in classroom discussions, the lessons are organized to cover English language skills such as vocabulary, grammar, listening and understanding, talking and writing. Students’ listening and speaking skills are practiced by listening to audio scripts and participating at English communication dialogues in the class.
To measure results, students’ learning progress is diligently tracked by assigning the students to write essay once in two weeks and taking tutorial tests two times a semester. In this way, students can see how they are doing in the subject and teachers can see which of their teaching approaches are working and where they might need to make adjustments.
Since engineering vocabularies, usages and associated words are included in the Engineering English textbook, students have the opportunity to join the international companies during their induction course so that they can get sophisticated technics concerning their respective fields. Moreover, having much proficiency in English, it can make them convenient in finding jobs after graduation. They can also get job opportunities and it is of help in their ways to successful life.
